Explore possible futures and inform future consequences of decisions and choices of today are the ambitions of the CMA (MINES ParisTech) and the CIRED (Ecole des Ponts et Chaussées-AgroParisTech) by creating, in France, this resources centre of long-term modeling for sustainable development issues.

By responding to the energy, environmental and economics constraints to which industrials and policy makers are faced in their strategic choices, the project of the Chair Modeling for Sustainable Development revolves around three pillars:

- Emergence of a periennal prospective platform for decision-making to the Economy-Resources-Climate interfaces;

- Ensuring a French presence strengthened in key areas of national and international expertise for sustainable development;

- Addressing the national deficive of a training "on and by" the prospective approach.
